Setting up the Tea Tray for High Tea

This is almost as important as boiling the water - why, because tea tastes best when made with boiling water and when it is properly and attractively presented.

This doesn't have to be a difficult or fussy process. If you keep the basic materials at hand

1 - the tray

It would be lovely to have an excuisite tray for the occasion but a plain tin kitchen tray will do just as well. You are going to cover it with a crisp tray cloth anyway

2 - the tray cloth

3 - the napkins

cloth of course -paper napkins - no matter how fancy are not fancy enough for High Tea

for very fancy High Tea you can use an antique handkerchief at each setting - these can often be found in flea markets or thrift stores

4 - the tea cups and saucers

5 - sugar bowl and milk jug and a small dish for the lemon slices if desired

6 - a fancy / nice plate for the sanwiches and bites

a two-tier plate set is traditional and very attractive on the tray

6- tea pot - large enough to hold a second cup

7 - tea snug or cozy to keep the tea warm and sometimes to hide the tea pot

8 - A silver tea spoon is a lovely detail. By tea spoon, I mean a small or coffee spoon - just the right size to go with a china tea cup. I inherited one from my Gramma and tea would not taste the same without it.

You don't need more than one of these little spoons for your personal tray - so indulge yourself and go on a spoon hunt through your local antique store but wonderful little spoons can be found in thrift stores and flea markets. With a bit of luck, you might even find a set of sugar cube tongs or a sugar spoon to match. What is important is that you should feel special when you use it

9 - flowers or decoration

a small arrangement or one fresh rose from the gardem in a bud vase

silk roses

a potted plant - especially the miniature violets that can fit into a tea cup

Flower Fasioners are a series of vintage flower arranging gadjets - from very small flower frogs that would fit into a tea cup to bowl frogs to large sweeping full table

optional extras

jam pots

doilies

lazy susan

A séance (pronounced /ˈseɪ.ɑːns/) is an attempt to communicate with spirits. The word "séance" comes from the French word for "seat," "session" or "sitting," from the Old French "seoir," "to sit." In French, the word's meaning is quite general: one may, for example, speak of "une séance de cinéma" ("a movie session"). In English, however, the word came to be used specifically for a meeting of people who are gathered to receive messages from spirits or to listen to a spirit medium discourse with or relay messages from spirits; many people, including skeptics and non-believers, treat it as a form of entertainment. In modern English usage, participants need not be seated while engaged in a séance.

The Haunted Tea Cup

Posted by Lady Grace on July 13, 2010 at 7:54 AM Comments comments (0)

I am so excited! I have just aquired an authentic haunted tea cup. A close friend of mine who also lives in N.Y. has collected many Victorian historical clothing, home furnishings, victorian mourning items since she was 17 years old. Recently she told me the story of the haunted tea cup and still a bit fearful of it asked it I would like it. I accepted the tea cup and brought it home in a box.  I began to reseach her story &  found many references to her claim of the once owner.  I secure it in a gilded bird cage. I really do not want it moving about  in the night.

Aquired Art also from the home.

You are transported back in time, to the genteel life of wealthy New York in the 19th century. Details of the house  include-- wrought iron staircase leading to the front door to the mahogony dining room table to the four poster beds -- the inhabitants who lived there in the 1800s had just left for a family outing.

Some say it also is home to a ghost, the spirit of a woman who spent 93 years in the red brick townhouse, dying alone and impoverished in the bed in which she was born.

A teacup that moves from room to room, a piano playing in the middle of the night, a cold blast of air whipping through a room have all been attributed to the ghost of Gertrude Tredwell.

She was the youngest of eight children of Eliza and Seabury Tredwell. Tredwell bought the house in 1835 to move his family away from the bustle of the South Street seaport where he worked as a successful hardware merchant.

According to the family’s history, Gertrude fell in love with a doctor, Lewis Walton. But her father, an Episcopalian, forbade her to marry Walton because he was Catholic.

Her heart broken, Gertrude never married and stayed in her family’s home until her death in 1933. But Gardiner said many people believe Gertrude’s spirit remains in the the house.

Shamanic Animal Journey Today!

http://www.chevroncars.com/learn/img-old/rabbit.jpg

I am opening this lens on shamanic journeying to provide a simple how-to guide for visual self improvement.

Seeing yourself as a power animal  can add creative visual aspects to  your life as you desire.

Todays Shamanic power animal.

The Rabbit:

The loving rabbit brings a soft healing energy

Sniffels its nose ( a tad bit picky) large ears to hear what going on around.

Strong back legs and hops to it attitude.

Nest builder and active procreator.

Rabbit or hare being a “lucky” animal, as exhibited in the practice of carrying a rabbit's foot for luck. Some have also believed it is representing a jumping into the future and moving ahead with life and happiness.

Look forward to more power animals in this series

Remote Viewing Exercise w/ the 5 Cs

Remote Viewing Exercise w/ the 5 Cs

This next exercise is a visualization exercise. Please keep your eyes open. I will do a brief intro meditation to get you into it, and then we will EXPERIENCE!

Please take a few deep breaths...inhale...exhale...relaxing...Breathing in...breathing out...enjoying this moment...relaxing... Feel your body relaxing…….

Now, in your mind, picture your front door…. As you look at your front door, view what color the door is….

What is the door made of? Is there a window in the door? Does it have a knob or handle?

Now, you are opening the door...

Does it swing to the right or left? What do you see first when you open the door? A hallway, jackets and shoes, your pet coming toward you to greet you... if not, what do you see?

What smells greet you?

What do you hear?

What do you feel?

Okay...now after taking these moments to recall what you experienced... return slowly to the present...to now...

Many of you probably visualized either the doorknob or handle in your hand... and felt the knob or handle turning in your hand as you opened the door... that was clairsentience.

When you saw and observed the color and visual look of the door... that was clairvoyance.

When you heard a dog barking, or the door opening, etc... that was clairaudience.

When you smelled cookies or candles, etc... that was clairscent.

We didn't get a chance taste anything, but I bet if I asked you to taste your favorite food in your mouth right now...you could....that is clairgustance.

Very good everyone! Remember this is something to be practiced and expanded upon. It is image and experience recall, and connecting with Spirit and/or intuitive information feels remarkably similar.
